9-1-24 - Bridging Tradition and Innovation
Monday Aug 26, 2024
Monday Aug 26, 2024
The readings for this week are Song of Solomon 2:8-13 and Psalm 45:1-2, 6-9, or Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9 and Psalm 15, with James 1:17-27, and Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23. This week we look at how "technological doping" continues to have a grey area making room for us to contemplate the meaning of sport and what the Olympics is really about. There are many things that as we push forward with different advances in equipment, it forces us to reevaluate things to make sure we are still going for the purpose of the games. Jesus questions the Pharisees this week and gets us to that same heart of the questions. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do we let nuances get in the way of uniting us? #FaithandSciPod

8-25-24 - Curiosity like Da Vinci
Monday Aug 19, 2024
Monday Aug 19, 2024
The readings for this week are 1 Kings 8:(1,6,10-11), 22-30, 41-43 and Psalm 84, or Joshua 24:1-2a, 14-18 Psalm 34:15-22, with Ephesians 6:10-20, and John 6:56-69. This week we look at Leonardo Da Vinci. This great Renaissance man showed us the power of curiosity without getting pigeonholed into our profession. We should continue to be curious even when it seems as if what we are working on isn't going anywhere. It is an opportunity for us to grow closer to God. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

8-18-24 - The Process of Wisdom
Monday Aug 12, 2024
Monday Aug 12, 2024
The readings for this week are 1 Kings 2:10-12; 3:3-14, with Psalm 111, or Proverbs 9:1-6, with Psalm 34:9-14, Ephesians 5:15-20, and John 6:51-58. This week we look at the difficult subject of wisdom. It is not a quick and easy subject to just grasp but it takes time to acquire and understand. Much of our world is built on this concept of wisdom; building upon itself and being able to take the time to understand what the world is missing and help to learn and grow and share it with others. I think we all could work on this. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

8-11-24 - The Bread of Life and the Symbiotic Web
Monday Aug 05, 2024
Monday Aug 05, 2024
The readings for this week are 2 Samuel 18:5-9, 15, 31-33 and Psalm 130, or 1 Kings 19:4-8 and Psalm 34:1-8, with Ephesians 4:25-5:2, and John 6:35, 41-51. This week we look at relationships and how important they are while we are surrounded by them. We have Endosymbiotic relationships in us and all around us. We have recently discovered a new Endosymbiotic relationship called a nitroplast. At what point are we going to understand that God has intended us to be in relationship not only with God but others (human and non-human) around us? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Have you seen the importance of these (Endosymbiotic) types of relationships? #FaithandSciPod

8-4-24 - A Deep Dive for Purpose and Oxygen
Monday Jul 29, 2024
Monday Jul 29, 2024
The readings for this week are 2 Samuel 11:26 – 12:13a, with Psalm 51:1-12, or Exodus 16:2-4, 9-15, with Psalm 78:23-29, Ephesians 4:1-16, and John 6:24-35. This week we look at "dark oxygen" and how this is causing us to reconsider how life started and whether or not we should mine the area. This is where patience could be key for us to understand how this marine ecosystem affects our world but that would also mean leaving resources there for an extended period of time. Are we willing to leave economic gain on the table for the possible betterment of future generations? Are we willing to look for something that will sustain over the quick and easy? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
When did you have to make the difficult decision to wait on something that you easily could do right now for the betterment of something? #FaithandSciPod

7-28-24 - Running what seems to be Impossible
Monday Jul 22, 2024
Monday Jul 22, 2024
The readings for this week are 2 Samuel 11:1-15, and Psalm 14, or 2 Kings 4:42-44, and Psalm 145:10-18, with Ephesians 3:14-21, and John 6:1-21. This week we look at how salmon have made their runs upstream to their breeding grounds. Over time, humans have intervened, thinking we had all the answers. We have found out over time, how little we actually knew of how the ecosystem was impacted by salmon and how we can help but can not control the whole process. This is much like faith and life in general and there has to be a point where we hand some major decisions over to God while we accompany God along the plans that God has. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where are you acknowledging the impact around you; human or non-human? #FaithandSciPod

7-21-24 - Eyes Wide Open to Renewal
Monday Jul 15, 2024
Monday Jul 15, 2024
The readings for this week are 2 Samuel 7:1-14a and Psalm 89:20-37, or Jeremiah 23:1-6 and Psalm 23, with Ephesians 2:11-22, and Mark 6:30-34, 53-56. This week we look at how it is easy for us to miss things that are outside of our daily human lives. In doing that, we miss a lot of what God had created and is willing to teach us if we spend the time to notice and care about it. God did not only create humans but many other creatures that are worth our time to understand and see the impact that they can make in their eco-systems. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

7-14-24 - Jealousy and Dinosaur Discoveries
Monday Jul 08, 2024
Monday Jul 08, 2024
The readings for this week are 2 Samuel 6:1-5, 12b-19 and Psalm 24, or Amos 7:7-15 and Psalm 85:8-13, with Ephesians 1:3-14, and Mark 6:14-29. This week we look at how paleontology got off to a weird start as a scientific field due to Othniel Charles Marsh and Edward Drinker Cope and how their jealousy for each other impacted the whole field. It is easy to see how we as humans all do this and how it can greatly impact how we work and relate with others. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where is jealousy gotten in the way of being able to see God? #FaithandSciPod

7-7-24 - Challenges of Returning Home
Monday Jul 01, 2024
Monday Jul 01, 2024
The readings for this week are 2 Samuel 5:1-5, 9-10 and Psalm 48, or Ezekiel 2:1-5 and Psalm 123, with 2 Corinthians 12:2-10, and Mark 6:1-13. This week we look at the reintroduction of wolves into Colorado. There is a lot of hope on how it could be beneficial to the environment long term, there are some current challenges of having them reenter the former lands; free range cattle. Figuring out this balance so that both can benefit is challenging and hard but is currently being worked through and hopefully makes for a stronger Colorado for many years to come. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

6-30-24 - From Lament to Renewal
Monday Jun 24, 2024
Monday Jun 24, 2024
The readings for this week are 2 Samuel 1:1, 17-27 with Psalm 130, or Wisdom of Solomon 1:13-15, 2:23-24 or Lamentations 3:22-33 with Psalm 30, 2 Corinthians 8:7-15, and Mark 5:21-43. This week we look at what happens to an environment when it is given the opportunity to heal. The process of renewing an area takes a lot of time and observation/awareness, but it is able to give in abundance. Are we willing to give the time needed to have these gifts be seen? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
