10-20-24 - Questions and Observations

The readings for this week are Job 38:1-7, (34-41) and Psalm 104:1-9, 24, 35c, or Isaiah 53:4-12 and Psalm 91:9-16, with Hebrews 5:1-10 and, Mark 10:35-45.  This week we discuss how asking the right question, and making the right observations is very important in science and in faith.  Without these, it is quite easy for us to get misled and have been led astray.  With asking the right questions and being aware to observe things around us, we then are able to make sure that we are near to where God is calling us to be.   Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

10-13-24 - Embracing Change

The readings for this week are Job 23:1-9, 16-17 and Psalm 22:1-15, or Amos 5:6-7, 10-15 and Psalm 90:12-17, with Hebrews 4:12-16, and Mark 10:17-31.  This week we discuss how our bodies have different things that wear out and cause aging.  In this, there are ways that we can do preventative care, but there is also the acceptance of the gifts that we have been given and embracing that.  Also realize that some of these gifts are for a period of time and with that, we should be grateful.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

10-6-24 - Acknowledging the Unseen

9-29-24 - The Perils of Pride and Persecution

The readings for this week are Esther 7:1-6, 9-10; 9:20-22 and Psalm 124, or Numbers 11:4-6, 10-16, 24-29 and Psalm 19:7-14, with James 5:13-20, and Mark 9:38-50.  This week we see how pride and fear often lead to the suppression of new ideas or persecution of individuals. Yet, when Jesus is given an opportunity to be prideful, he chooses to be humble instead and make sure his pride does not get in the way.  There is definitely something there that we all could learn from.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

9-22-24 - Exploring Selfless Faith of Commensalism

The readings for this week are Proverbs 31:10-31 and Psalm 1, or Wisdom of Solomon 1:16-2:1, 12-22 or Jeremiah 11:18-20 and Psalm 54, James 3:13 – 4:3, 7-8a, and Mark 9:30-37.  This week we discuss the different types of symbiotic relationships.  Often the one that gets looked over is Commensalism, because it seems so one sided which it is.  We also must remember that much of our relationship with God is the same way. 9-15-24 - Beyond the Box

The readings for this week are Proverbs 1:20-33 with Psalm 19, or Isaiah 50:4-9a, with Psalm 19, or Wisdom of Solomon 7:26 – 8:1, or Psalm 116:1-9, with James 3:1-12, and Mark 8:27-38.  This week we discuss how we try putting species of organisms into boxes and try to fill out the Phylogenetic Tree.  Unfortunately, it is not that easy.  There are a lot of things that are being worked on now to try to figure out what a species is more and more now.  We as people like putting things into boxes and the problem is, God and life are much bigger than the boxes we put them in.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

9-8-24 - Faith in Action with the Northern Bald Ibis

The readings for this week are Proverbs 22:1-2, 8-9, 22-23, with Psalm 125, or Isaiah 35:4-7a with Psalm 146, James 2:1-10, (11-13), 14-17, and Mark 7:24-37.  This week we look at how healing can take the form of many different things.  Sometimes it can come in the form of trying to restore wrongs that were done years ago like in the case of the Northern Bald Ibis.  This will then mean that we have to take an active part in this healing and in that time, may be able to find some of the intimacy that we are all craving to have with God.  It may not be easy, but it is required with our faith. 9-1-24 - Bridging Tradition and Innovation

The readings for this week are Song of Solomon 2:8-13 and Psalm 45:1-2, 6-9, or Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9  and Psalm 15, with James 1:17-27, and Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23.  This week we look at how "technological doping" continues to have a grey area making room for us to contemplate the meaning of sport and what the Olympics is really about.  There are many things that as we push forward with different advances in equipment, it forces us to reevaluate things to make sure we are still going for the purpose of the games.  Jesus questions the Pharisees this week and gets us to that same heart of the questions.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
