1-21-24 - Immediately Answering the Call

The readings for the week are Jonah 3:1-5, 10, Psalm 62:5-12, 1 Corinthians 7:29-31, and Mark 1:14-20.  This week we look at how we have to accept change and be willing to react immediately.  When we see Jesus calling his disciples by the sea we see that along with how our body reacts to bacteria attacking it.  The reactions are immediate, but the relationships that have been built over time is what makes it an effective team.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

1-14-24 - Accepting the Challenge

The readings for the week are 1 Samuel 3:1-10, (11-20), Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18, 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, and John 1:43-51.  This week we look at how challenges can be very good for us.  Just like President Kennedy challenged the United States in the 1960's to go and reach the moon by the end of the decade, Jesus does the same when the early disciples get impressed with simple details.  We are told to come and see.  Will we accept the challenge that that brings?  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

1-7-24 - Ignition is just the Beginning

The readings for the week are Genesis 1:1-5, Psalm 29, Acts 19:1-7, and Mark 1:4-11.  This week we look at the properties of water and how that along with the news of ignition of nuclear fusion opens to us a new world.  We see in baptism that it opens up the beginning of Jesus' ministry and it appears that we are at a beginning of a new energy horizon potentially as well.  Just like the disciples then, we will now have to see that happens as things progress.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

6th Birthday of the Podcast!

12-31-23 - Promises Fulfilled!

The readings for the week are Isaiah 61:10-62:3, Psalm 148, Galatians 4:4-7, and Luke 2:22-40.  This week we look at the history of Polio and how we discovered a vaccine.  The process was long, but we were able to fulfil the promises made in the March of Dimes to almost eradicate the disease from the planet.  It is a good reminder that there was a point that Jesus hadn't done everything yet and we had to wait and see what Jesus was going to do.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

12-24-23 - How Will the Future be Different Due to Jesus/CRISPR?

The readings for the 4th Sunday of Advent are 2 Samuel 7:1-11, 16, Luke 1:46b-55 or Psalm 89:1-4, 19-26, Romans 16:25-27, and Luke 1:26-38.  The Reading for the Nativity of Our Lord are Isaiah 9:2-7, Psalm 96, Titus 2:11-14, and Luke 2:1-14, (15-20), or Isaiah 62:6-12, Psalm 97, Titus 3:4-7, and Luke 2:(1-7), 8-20, or  Isaiah 52:7-10, Psalm 98, Hebrews 1:1-4, (5-12), and John 1:1-14.  This week we look at how CRISPR in its current state is very similar to what it was like when Jesus was born.  We didn't know fully what to expect and even with the birth of Jesus, we still didn't understand what it would mean for life going forward.  We currently are in a similar spot with CRISPR.  The potential is great, but we don't know fully what it will mean for life going forward and how it will change life going forward as well.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

12-17-23 - The Tension between Individualism vs. Community

12-10-23 -Succession in Life

The readings this week are Isaiah 40:1-11, Psalm 85:1-2, 8-13, 2 Peter 3:8-15a, and Mark 1:1-8.  This week we see how John the Baptist was laying the foundation for Jesus coming but was there to start the work but not to finish.  The work had to keep moving, just like our world with succession.  The world keeps moving and changing but are we allowing ourselves to grow in the ways God is calling us?  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

12-3-23 -Awake and Preparing!

The readings this week are Isaiah 64:1-9, Psalm 80:1-7, 17-19, 1 Corinthians 1:3-9, and Mark 13:24-37.  This week we talk about preparation.  We see nature do this and see that God is calling us into it without knowing the end date.  This is hard for us, and makes it feel at times that things are too big or too much for us, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try.  Working together is something all do and feel a sense of accomplishment when we do.  Something even as big as the climate crisis can be done if we prepare and work together.  Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
