7-16-23 - Plants Share! Does our Faith?
Monday Jul 10, 2023
Monday Jul 10, 2023
The readings this week are Genesis 25:19-34 and Psalm 119:105-112, or Isaiah 55:10-13 and Psalm 65:(1-8), 9-13, Romans 8:1-11, and Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23. This week we talk about seed dispersal and how plants communicate with each other. If we take this information and think about it with the parable of the sower and the seed, we see the need to communicate with others with their faith. If that is the case, are we making sure that we are not only working our soil but sharing and communicating with others what we can share and what we need to grow? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where have you cared about another person's plant (or Faith)? #FaithandSciPod

7-9-23 - Falling Short Can ”Tilt” Things
Monday Jul 03, 2023
Monday Jul 03, 2023
The readings this week are Genesis 24:34-38, 42-49, 58-67 with Psalm 45:10-17 or Song of Solomon 2:8-13, or Zechariah 9:9-12 with Psalm 145:8-14, Romans 7:15-25a, and Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30. This week we talk about how we have now physically changed the tilt of our planet due to how we are changing the amount of groundwater around the world. Are we okay with this? Are we willing to notice and admit the wrongs that we have done to our planet, and realize the effects they have in order for us to work together to solve these problems? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where have you fallen short? #FaithandSciPod

We have a need for food and for things to grow. This means that we need to have a growing appreciation for the amazing gift of the ground that allows it to grow. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

2023 Gustavus Academy of Faith, Science, and Ethics
Thursday Jun 22, 2023
Thursday Jun 22, 2023
Dear Listeners,
After advertising and talking about it for months, I was able to attend Gustavus' Academy of Faith, Science, and Ethics for 2023. I had an amazing time interacting with this amazing group of young adults and hearing how they see Faith and Science working together and also the questions they have. I believe listening to this, it gives us a glimpse of the questions that some of the younger people in the faith are wondering about with Faith and Science. Hopefully, this encourages all of us to keep the conversation going.
Thank you so much,
Tyler Bublitz

6-25-23 - Migrating Beyond our Borders!
Monday Jun 19, 2023
Monday Jun 19, 2023
The readings this week are Genesis 21:8-21 and Psalm 86:1-10, 16-17, or Jeremiah 20:7-13 and Psalm 69:7-10, (11-15), 16-18, Romans 6:1b-11, and Matthew 10:24-39. This week we looking at the Migratory Bird Treaty and how that has impacted our understanding of seeing beyond barriers. By slowly understanding how birds migrate, we start to appreciate them as a resource and see the world around us as a resource that the world benefits from. As we expand our vision, we start to see our role within the creation and gain a deeper understanding of the creator of it. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
When have we had the relationship with the creation that we should? In understanding the creation, we are better able to understand the creator! #FaithandSciPod

6-18-23 - Physically and Mentally Able to Do the Call
Monday Jun 12, 2023
Monday Jun 12, 2023
The readings this week are Genesis 18:1-15, (21:1-7) and Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19, or Exodus 19:2-8a and Psalm 100, Romans 5:1-8, and Matthew 9:35-10:8, (9-23). This week we look at how our mental state can prevent us from being able to recover or being able to do what God is calling us to do. We can often find ourselves in a state of putting up roadblocks that prevent us from doing what needs to be done in order for us to grow into the person that we are being called to be. This is why making sure we are also working on our mental state is very important as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
When has a mental state of an injury been harder to recover from than the injury itself? #FaithandSciPod

6-11-23 -The Hard Truth of Faith and Trust
Monday Jun 05, 2023
Monday Jun 05, 2023
The readings this week are Genesis 12:1-9 and Psalm 33:1-12, or Hosea 5:15-6:6 and Psalm 50:7-15, Romans 4:13-25, and Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26. This week we look at the faith that some in the scientific community have around the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker. Though there are questions about its existence in 2023 even though there is a peer-reviewed journal article saying there is. This is much like the trust it takes for us to have faith in God in general and be able to follow the footsteps of Jesus. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do you have faith to trust?
How much trust does it take to have faith? #FaithandSciPod

6-4-23 - The Ecosystem of the Trinity
Monday May 29, 2023
Monday May 29, 2023
The readings this week are either Genesis 1:1-2:4a, Psalm 8, 2 Corinthians 13:11-13, and Matthew 28:16-20. This week we look at how ecosystems help us understand the trinity. Our God comes in multiple ways to be able to reach us right where we are at. This is similar to how an ecosystem is made up of many types of plants and animals to make it resilient to whatever comes our way. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
When was the last time you acknowledged that you were part of God's ecosystem? #FaithandSciPod

5-28-23 - Wind of Change
Monday May 22, 2023
Monday May 22, 2023
The readings this week are either Acts 2:1-21 or Numbers 11:24-30, Psalm 104:24-34, 35b, 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13 or Acts 2:1-21, and John 20:19-23 or John 7:37-39. This week we look at how the wind works. In understanding this, it opens the door to a connection to the coming of the Holy Spirit and then can be used to further help us understand how the Holy Spirit is here to guide us. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do we need to be strengthened by the wind? #FaithandSciPod

5-21-23 - Leaping out of what We Know!
Monday May 15, 2023
Monday May 15, 2023
The readings this week are either Acts 1:1-11, Psalm 47 or Psalm 93, Ephesians 1:15-23, and Luke 24:44-53 or Acts 1:6-14, Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35, 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11, and John 17:1-11. This week we look at the Frog Cycle. A frog goes through its life and gets to the point where it has to take the "leap" of faith and leave the water and everything it's known and go into the world beyond the water. We too, especially after the ascension are called into that new life as well which might mean "leaping" into something new. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do you need to take a leap of faith out of the water and onto land? #FaithandSciPod
