12-31-23 - Promises Fulfilled!
Monday Dec 25, 2023
Monday Dec 25, 2023
The readings for the week are Isaiah 61:10-62:3, Psalm 148, Galatians 4:4-7, and Luke 2:22-40. This week we look at the history of Polio and how we discovered a vaccine. The process was long, but we were able to fulfil the promises made in the March of Dimes to almost eradicate the disease from the planet. It is a good reminder that there was a point that Jesus hadn't done everything yet and we had to wait and see what Jesus was going to do. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where have you seen promises fulfilled by God? #FaithandSciPod

12-24-23 - How Will the Future be Different Due to Jesus/CRISPR?
Monday Dec 18, 2023
Monday Dec 18, 2023
The readings for the 4th Sunday of Advent are 2 Samuel 7:1-11, 16, Luke 1:46b-55 or Psalm 89:1-4, 19-26, Romans 16:25-27, and Luke 1:26-38. The Reading for the Nativity of Our Lord are Isaiah 9:2-7, Psalm 96, Titus 2:11-14, and Luke 2:1-14, (15-20), or Isaiah 62:6-12, Psalm 97, Titus 3:4-7, and Luke 2:(1-7), 8-20, or Isaiah 52:7-10, Psalm 98, Hebrews 1:1-4, (5-12), and John 1:1-14. This week we look at how CRISPR in its current state is very similar to what it was like when Jesus was born. We didn't know fully what to expect and even with the birth of Jesus, we still didn't understand what it would mean for life going forward. We currently are in a similar spot with CRISPR. The potential is great, but we don't know fully what it will mean for life going forward and how it will change life going forward as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
How do we hang onto hope while we're waiting for an extended period of time? #FaithandSciPod

12-17-23 - The Tension between Individualism vs. Community
Monday Dec 11, 2023
Monday Dec 11, 2023
The readings this week are Isaiah 61:1-4, 8-11, Psalm 126 or Luke 1:46b-55, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24, and John 1:6-8, 19-28. This week look at how seed distribution shows us how God likes preparing the way from plants to people. There is a need to be patient and trust while also allowing us to take risks as needed as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

12-10-23 -Succession in Life
Monday Dec 04, 2023
Monday Dec 04, 2023
The readings this week are Isaiah 40:1-11, Psalm 85:1-2, 8-13, 2 Peter 3:8-15a, and Mark 1:1-8. This week we see how John the Baptist was laying the foundation for Jesus coming but was there to start the work but not to finish. The work had to keep moving, just like our world with succession. The world keeps moving and changing but are we allowing ourselves to grow in the ways God is calling us? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
As an individual and as a community, how are you allowing yourself to evolve and have succession for the future? #FaithandSciPod

12-3-23 -Awake and Preparing!
Monday Nov 27, 2023
Monday Nov 27, 2023
The readings this week are Isaiah 64:1-9, Psalm 80:1-7, 17-19, 1 Corinthians 1:3-9, and Mark 13:24-37. This week we talk about preparation. We see nature do this and see that God is calling us into it without knowing the end date. This is hard for us, and makes it feel at times that things are too big or too much for us, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try. Working together is something all do and feel a sense of accomplishment when we do. Something even as big as the climate crisis can be done if we prepare and work together. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
How are you preparing for the season of Advent? How are you preparing together with others for the season of Advent? #FaithandSciPod

11-26-23 - Making sure We are Observant in Life
Monday Nov 20, 2023
Monday Nov 20, 2023
The readings this week are Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24, Psalm 100, or Psalm 95:1-7a, with Ephesians 1:15-23, and Matthew 25:31-46. This week we talk about observations in science and how we also need to do that in our faith and life as well. We need to be able to see the small things in order for us to be the hands and feet as God is calling us into. While seeing the small things, we will also see the gifts that God is trying to provide as well. It is easy for us to miss these things as we are quickly moving through life, but we need to slow down to see the gifts that God is providing. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
How are you going to be observant and thankful this next year? #FaithandSciPod

11-19-23 - Burying Our Difficult Conversations!
Monday Nov 13, 2023
Monday Nov 13, 2023
The readings this week are Judges 4:1-7 and Psalm 123, or Zephaniah 1:7, 12-18 and Psalm 90:1-8, (9-11), 12, with 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, and Matthew 25:14-30. This week we talk about how we have run through many of our water reserves and they will not be able to come back. To prevent further damage, we have to be willing to take this inconvenient fact and start working on making adjustments even if it is difficult. This is part of what we are called to do even when it is difficult. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do we need to quit ignoring the difficult information and difficult conversations, and use our "Talents" for the betterment of the globe? #FaithandSciPod

11-12-23 - Wisdom from the Trees
Monday Nov 06, 2023
Monday Nov 06, 2023
The readings this week are Joshua 24:1-3a, 14-25 and Psalm 78:1-7, or Wisdom of Solomon 6:12-16 or Amos 5:18-24 and Wisdom of Solomon 6:17-20 or Psalm 70, with 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and Matthew 25:1-13. This week we talk about trees and how they have evolved to grow while being prepared. This is something that we as people can learn from that it is okay for us to pause for a moment to allow God's wisdom and the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us as we listen. It can seem difficult to do, but is highly rewarded in the long term and yet we often don't do it as often as we should. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where can we stop, and listen and be there for a while with God? #FaithandSciPod

11-5-23 - Humble like Mendel
Monday Oct 30, 2023
Monday Oct 30, 2023
The readings this week for the 23rd Sunday after Pentecost are Joshua 3:7-17 and Psalm 107:1-7, 33-37, or Micah 3:5-12 and Psalm 43, with 1 Thessalonians 2:9-13, and Matthew 23:1-12. The readings for All Saints Sunday are Revelation 7:9-17, Psalm 34:1-10, 22, 1 John 3:1-3, and Matthew 5:1-12. This week we talk about making sure our egos are in check and use the example of Gregor Mendel to help us understand this. He did a great job at understanding the value of his work but still was humble enough for the rest of the world to rediscover it after his death. This is something that we could all work on being humble enough to be that way. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
How do we stay humble in our world?
How do we recognize artists and other important people around us before they are gone? #FaithandSciPod

10-29-23 - Caring for Our Neighbors through Science!
Monday Oct 23, 2023
Monday Oct 23, 2023
The readings this week for the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost are Deuteronomy 34:1-12 and Psalm 90:1-6, 13-17, or Leviticus 19:1-2, 15-18 and Psalm 1, 1 Thessalonians 2:1-8 • Matthew 22:34-46. The readings for Reformation Sunday are Jeremiah 31:31-34, Psalm 46, Romans 3:19-28, and John 8:31-36. This week we look at how we can follow the greatest commandments of loving God and loving neighbor by working together. This is one of the places that in it's truest form, science can shine through and show how we can do this and allow ourselves to grow and learn more and more about God's creation and God's self. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
How do you care for your neighbor? How do you love your neighbor? #FaithandSciPod
