10-22-23 - Being Critical of Science
Monday Oct 16, 2023
Monday Oct 16, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 33:12-23 and Psalm 99 or Isaiah 45:1-7 and Psalm 96:1-9, (10-13), with 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 and Matthew 22:15-22. This week we look at the dirty side of science. We talk about the need for replication of scientific studies to help make sure that our bias is out of the research. This is a part of science that we don't like looking at or thinking about, but is an important thing to make sure is managed so that we can be something that is reputable for future generations. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do you need to be critical? #FaithandSciPod

10-15-23 - The Value of being Wrong
Monday Oct 09, 2023
Monday Oct 09, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 32:1-14 and Psalm 106:1-6, 19-23 or Isaiah 25:1-9 and Psalm 23, with Philippians 4:1-9, and Matthew 22:1-14. This week we look at the value of the Null Hypothesis. Sometimes it can be very difficult for us to give up on our hypothesis that we have put so much time into. We want to make it work even when it isn't working. Are we humble enough to realize that God is trying to have us understand something bigger than our original hypothesis then? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where have you made an assumption or a hypothesis, and been wrong? #FaithandSciPod

10-8-23 - Seeing Beyond Where We are at
Monday Oct 02, 2023
Monday Oct 02, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 20:1-4, 7-9, 12-20 and Psalm 19, or Isaiah 5:1-7 and Psalm 80:7-15, with Philippians 3:4b-14, and Matthew 21:33-46. This week we look that we have to be okay with being able to change. This allows us to better understand God by seeing where God is taking us in the bigger picture and aligning ourselves to that. We were not able to see beyond where we were at with DDT, but it also helps us see that this is something we struggle with and hopefully we can continue to learn from and grow as people going forward. In doing that, maybe we also get better at it as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do you need to let go, so that God can teach? #FaithandSciPod

Sunday Oct 01, 2023
Dear Listeners,
We have made it 300 straight weeks of talking about Faith and Science! I first want to thank everyone who has tagged along on this crazy journey. I hope you enjoy this episode as we get into some of the backstory of the last year and hear about where we are looking at going with next. Hope you enjoy it as we continue talking about Faith and Science each week.

10-1-23 - Challenging our Understanding
Monday Sep 25, 2023
Monday Sep 25, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 17:1-7 and Psalm 78:1-4, 12-16, or Ezekiel 18:1-4, 25-32 and Psalm 25:1-9, with Philippians 2:1-13, and Matthew 21:23-32. This week we look to go deep into space and see if we can try understanding how we currently try figuring out how old our universe is. We also find that right now there is much debate about how to do that and it might mean. It appears that creative hypotheses and a willingness to try new ways of looking at things are needing to allow us to learn more about the universe. This sounds very similar to faith in how we need to continue to allow our faith to grow and change as we get older along with allowing our understanding to grow as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do you need to put aside your preconceptions to allow God in? #FaithandSciPod

9-24-23 - When Beavers Flew
Monday Sep 18, 2023
Monday Sep 18, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 16:2-15 and Psalm 105:1-6, 37-45, or Jonah 3:10-4:11 and Psalm 145:1-8, with Philippians 1:21-30, and Matthew 20:1-16. This week we look at when beavers flew that were both creative and using the resources they had to solve a problem. This also helps remind us that God works in creative ways if we allow God to do so. It is important for us to allow God to do God's work, which will often have creative results. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where have you listened and received a creative response to your question? #FaithandSciPod

9-17-23 - Humble to See All the Bees
Monday Sep 11, 2023
Monday Sep 11, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 14:19-31 and Psalm 114 or Exodus 15:1b-11, 20-21, or Genesis 50:15-21 and Psalm 103:(1-7), 8-13, Romans 14:1-12, and Matthew 18:21-35. This week we look at how we as humans can get laser focused and miss the objective that we are striving for. In doing that, we become arrogant and ignorant of the things around us and end up hurting us in the end. This often means we need to be humble and forgive ourselves and others, in order to keep to the goals we see we need to accomplish. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

9-10-23 - How You Fit in Community Ecology
Monday Sep 04, 2023
Monday Sep 04, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 12:1-14 and Psalm 149, or Ezekiel 33:7-11 and Psalm 119:33-40, Romans 13:8-14, and Matthew 18:15-20. This week we look at community ecology dynamics to be able to better understand how we need to work together instead of competing against each other. In doing so, we find ways to grow as a human while building a stronger church and church community. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

Monday Aug 28, 2023
Monday Aug 28, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 3:1-15, and Psalm 105:1-6, 23-26, 45b, or Jeremiah 15:15-21, and Psalm 26:1-8, Romans 12:9-21, and Matthew 16:21-28. This week we look at how we all get called to step outside our comfort zone and to be creative and curious. Are we willing to do that and walk into the callings that God has for us? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.

8-27-23 - Knowing who You Are!
Monday Aug 21, 2023
Monday Aug 21, 2023
The readings this week are Exodus 1:8-2:10 and Psalm 124, or Isaiah 51:1-6 and Psalm 138, Romans 12:1-8, and Matthew 16:13-20. This week we look at how important DNA sequencing is to helping us to better understand different parts of our ecosystem. In better understanding them, we start to better understand ourselves. We also can see why invasive species are so damaging to our ecosystems and what we can learn about ourselves from that. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
