6-18-23 - Physically and Mentally Able to Do the Call
Monday Jun 12, 2023
Monday Jun 12, 2023
The readings this week are Genesis 18:1-15, (21:1-7) and Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19, or Exodus 19:2-8a and Psalm 100, Romans 5:1-8, and Matthew 9:35-10:8, (9-23). This week we look at how our mental state can prevent us from being able to recover or being able to do what God is calling us to do. We can often find ourselves in a state of putting up roadblocks that prevent us from doing what needs to be done in order for us to grow into the person that we are being called to be. This is why making sure we are also working on our mental state is very important as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
When has a mental state of an injury been harder to recover from than the injury itself? #FaithandSciPod

6-11-23 -The Hard Truth of Faith and Trust
Monday Jun 05, 2023
Monday Jun 05, 2023
The readings this week are Genesis 12:1-9 and Psalm 33:1-12, or Hosea 5:15-6:6 and Psalm 50:7-15, Romans 4:13-25, and Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26. This week we look at the faith that some in the scientific community have around the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker. Though there are questions about its existence in 2023 even though there is a peer-reviewed journal article saying there is. This is much like the trust it takes for us to have faith in God in general and be able to follow the footsteps of Jesus. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do you have faith to trust?
How much trust does it take to have faith? #FaithandSciPod

6-4-23 - The Ecosystem of the Trinity
Monday May 29, 2023
Monday May 29, 2023
The readings this week are either Genesis 1:1-2:4a, Psalm 8, 2 Corinthians 13:11-13, and Matthew 28:16-20. This week we look at how ecosystems help us understand the trinity. Our God comes in multiple ways to be able to reach us right where we are at. This is similar to how an ecosystem is made up of many types of plants and animals to make it resilient to whatever comes our way. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
When was the last time you acknowledged that you were part of God's ecosystem? #FaithandSciPod

5-28-23 - Wind of Change
Monday May 22, 2023
Monday May 22, 2023
The readings this week are either Acts 2:1-21 or Numbers 11:24-30, Psalm 104:24-34, 35b, 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13 or Acts 2:1-21, and John 20:19-23 or John 7:37-39. This week we look at how the wind works. In understanding this, it opens the door to a connection to the coming of the Holy Spirit and then can be used to further help us understand how the Holy Spirit is here to guide us. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do we need to be strengthened by the wind? #FaithandSciPod

5-21-23 - Leaping out of what We Know!
Monday May 15, 2023
Monday May 15, 2023
The readings this week are either Acts 1:1-11, Psalm 47 or Psalm 93, Ephesians 1:15-23, and Luke 24:44-53 or Acts 1:6-14, Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35, 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11, and John 17:1-11. This week we look at the Frog Cycle. A frog goes through its life and gets to the point where it has to take the "leap" of faith and leave the water and everything it's known and go into the world beyond the water. We too, especially after the ascension are called into that new life as well which might mean "leaping" into something new. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where do you need to take a leap of faith out of the water and onto land? #FaithandSciPod

5-14-23 - The Advocate Leading the Way!
Monday May 08, 2023
Monday May 08, 2023
The readings this week are Acts 17:22-31, Psalm 66:8-20, 1 Peter 3:13-22, and John 14:15-21. This week we look at how we can see how "the Advocate", the Holy Spirit, has been working with us for decades. An easy example of this is seeing that the breakthroughs in understanding and being able to use DNA over the last 150 years has helped us prepare for what is coming. Are we willing to see these amazing breakthroughs as something that the Holy Spirit has led us to also? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Have you ever thought of scientific breakthroughs as the Holy Spirit working with and through us? #FaithandSciPod

5-7-23 - Succession as a Plan!
Monday May 01, 2023
Monday May 01, 2023
The readings this week are Acts 7:55-60, Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16, 1 Peter 2:2-10, and John 14:1-14. This week we look at how succession is a part of everyday life in nature. When Jesus starts to prepare the disciples for his leaving they resist. Are we going to allow for natural succession to happen in our lives? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Are we going through the succession that we need to as individuals and as a church? #FaithandSciPod

4-30-22 - Bats and Penguins Trust, Why Can’t We?
Monday Apr 24, 2023
Monday Apr 24, 2023
The readings this week are Acts 2:42-47, Psalm 23, 1 Peter 2:19-25, and John 10:1-10. This week we look at how trust is a major part of creation even though as humans we struggle with this idea. We can see bats and penguins doing huge amounts of trust in their daily lives. Do we do the same with our faith with God? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
How do we find ways to trust, even when it's hard? #FaithandSciPod

4-23-23 - A Time for Metamorphosis
Monday Apr 17, 2023
Monday Apr 17, 2023
The readings this week are Acts 2:14a, 36-41, Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19, 1 Peter 1:17-23, and Luke 24:13-35. This week we look at an overlooked figure, along with overlooked caterpillars, and the power of music. All of these have helped us, or can help us put the pieces together. Are we going to allow ourselves to be curious so that God can then help us put pieces together that God wants to share with us? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Are we (and/or the Church) in a stage of metamorphosis? #FaithandSciPod

4-16-23 - Quantum Leaps vs Classic Understanding
Monday Apr 10, 2023
Monday Apr 10, 2023
The readings this week are Acts 2:14a, 22-32, Psalm 16, 1 Peter 1:3-9, and John 20:19-31. This week we look at how quantum computers are coming quickly and have the possibility of being able to help us solve problems that recently seemed almost impossible to do. In the same breath, many of us have a hard time understanding how classical computing works. Is this similar to what was happening with Thomas when he had his doubts about Jesus? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful.
Remember to answer this week's question:
Where is our understanding so basic that it holds us back from what God is trying to show us? #FaithandSciPod
